Many people will tell you the weather in Argyll is unpredictable, and on the whole it is, you shouln't expect to get the same weather as forecast for the rest of the country, on numerous occasions we've experienced some fantastic spells of summer sunshine while the rest of the UK has been soaked with rain.
Some essential services such as ferries connecting the islands of Islay, Arran and Mull are susceptable to adverse weather conditions, high winds can cause delays or even cancellations for the whole day. By checking weather before you go you can ensure perhaps that the ferry will be sailing back without disruption. Heavy rain or extreme heat can make walking and outdoor activities difficult too.
To help you plan your excursion or choose a location you can now view 5 day weather forecasts provided by the UK Met Office for across Argyll & Bute from Machrihanish, to Oban & Mull, and across to Dunoon in our Argyll Weather section.
We hope this is a useful addition to the website for those who love the great outdoors.
