Carnassarie Castle

Carnassarie Castle is a fantastic example of a 'castle' in Argyll that was built to use as a home of one of Argyll's most important relgious figures.

 

Today, the castle is a fantastic example with clearly labelled and identified rooms, several floors and access to a roof with rails around it.

 

Carnassarie castle is one of Argyll's better castle ruins, with a nice hill walk of around 1km to its base and great views from its highest point, it is recommended as one of the things you should visit when in the area.

 

Carnassarie Castle is around a 15 minutes drive from Lochgilphead, Argyll.

How to get there: Drive through Kilmartin for approximately 1km and turn left into the car park. From the car park walk up the hill track behind for around 1km to the base of the castle grounds.
