Saint Columbas Footprints

Saint Columba is regarded as the person who brought Christianity to Argyll from Ireland and the footprints are said to mark the location where he first landed and stayed on his journey through Kintyre and Argyll to Iona where he set up a Christian Monestary.

Christianity was a major change in the religious and moral culture of Argyll during that time and Saint Columba is well documented in bringing that change and influence to the region that was then Dal Riata (or Dalriada).

Once King od Scotland, Robert The Bruce is also thought to have stayed near here during his flee and return to Kintyre after Bannockburn.
