Cruachan Power Station

A hydroelectric power station built into the mountain side with a dam high in the Scottish mountains that stretch across from Oban's west coast. The water passes through large tubes in the mountain and drives huge turbines before exiting into Loch Awe.

The only one of its kind in Scotland, the whole power station is inside a mountain.

The excellent visitor centre features a small shop and excellent cafe, guided tours of the power station are available which take you inside the mountain, its different and worth a look.

The region is also beatiful for lunch by the loch.
