In 1994 a Chinook helicopter flying from Northern Ireland to Scotland crashed into the Mull Of Kintyre hillside killing all 25 passengers which included some of the MOD's top intelligence employees.
Initially it was alleged it was pilot error however a report in 2011 cleared both pilots.
The Mull Of Kintyre is often clouded in fog, but there have also been reports that the area can affect the accuracy of dials and guages in aircraft and helicopters which may explain why the crash may have occurred.
The region where the crash happened is still scarred, the heather on the hillside was burnt considerably and you can still smell the burning when you visit the location. Its very quiet, very eery, you know when you visit that something quite horrible has happened there.
A monument marks the location of the accident and names all the people that were killed during this unfortunate incident..
You can also see the Mull Of Kintyre Lighthouse nearby.
