Corryvreckan Whirlpool

Located between the islands of Jura and Scarba is the Coryvreckan Whirlpool.

 

The natural whirlpool consists of a small peak underwater between two small islands, as the tides ebb and rise the water rotates around this stack causing a natural whirlpool.

 

You can see it from the mainland Argyll shore and best viewed from the north end of Jura. Its also very noisy! Boats trips are available to the whirlpool.
