A few miles north of Lochgilphead and on the left hands side is Dunadd Hill Fort, the remains of a site used since the Iron Age.
The hill fort was a stronghold of Dalriada, the region that covers Lochgilphead and Mid Argyll and would have been used for ceremonies and possibly crownings of Kings of Dalriada for may years.
A replica of the stone which contains the footprint, said to be used during ceremonies here is at the top of Dunadd, from which you can find absolutely stunning panoramic views across this part of Mid Argyll.
